Metre Yacht Races - 2006 Regattas
Below is a report from Rees Martin on the
recent BCYC, Household
Division and
Royal Yacht Squadron Regattas,
written Summer 2006:
"It was quite a week. We have had many,
many congratulations from the yachting fraternity
and three more boats currently in store are
being reviewed / purchased / chartered for the
2006 Nationals and next year. The cameras were
in evidence last week and we now have regular
coverage from the professionals - including
Marine Helicopters who have confirmed they will
be with us next year.
The Results are on the following websites:

Kathy Mansfield was out and her images can
be shortly seen at http://www.kathymansfieldphotos.com/
Marine Helicopters were out during the BCYC
event - do contact Alistair at http://www.marinehelicopters.co.uk
. I attach a shot which gives you a taster...
THE NEXT EVENT - 26, 27, 28th
August (bank holiday)
All Six Metres are invited to the Burseldon
Regatta. Racing for us would be on the Sunday
27th, followed by the famed Elephant Boatyard
Barbecue, under the watchful eye of one Tom
Richardson. We should be able to get six out
for this - if so the Race Officer would give
us our own start. You can see from the website
http://www.bursledonregatta.co.uk/
that this event is definitely worth attending!
The dates for the Nationals in Lymington are
now confirmed; 9, 10 and 11th September. As
more boats will be coming, we will issue new
Race Instructions etc. Those interested, please
call Tom Richardson on 02380 403 268 or elephant@landsendrd.freeserve.co.uk
That is all for the present.
For those concerned about the lovely blue modern
six metre seen gently ghosting through the fleet
in the violent downpour prior to the Thursday
start need not have worried. We understand that
the crew were carrying out a study in rose tinted
course tracking."
At IMYM, we are the specialists in wooden metre
yachts and we are passionate about our work.
